Worship Schedule and Precautions

In response to the growing number of COVID-19 cases in Mississippi, Mayor Lumumba has issued an executive order stating that “any individual who is over age two and able to medically tolerate a face covering shall be required to cover their nose and mouth with a face covering when in a public place and unable to maintain at least six feet of social distancing.”

9:30am Worship
During this service only, a Children’s Church for age 3 - kindergarten and nursery will be available (see Children's Ministry Update below).

11:00am Worship

Online Worship Service will continue to be posted on Covenant’s website even when worship resumes in our building.

This weekly order of worship and sermon will continue online. Each of these 'online bulletins' includes scripture, a video sermon, music, and Children's Bulletins: Sunday Worship Guide and Sermon

SUNDAY WORSHIP SEATING

Seating for the 9:30am and 11:00am worship services is now every other pew, but the 8:00am service will continue to be limited to every third pew. Even with these changes, please keep the following in mind:

  1. Continue to wear a mask to worship.
  2. Practice social distancing in seating.
  3. Bulletins will be placed in the area of the pew you should sit.
  4. If you arrive before the service begins, please sit closer to the front so that those who come later can fill in the back.
  5. Deacons will continue to clean pews in between services.

Face coverings are available at each service, and for the present, Sunday Night worship will not meet.

CHILDREN'S CHURCH

Children’s Church will be offered as an option during the 9:30am service for children ages three through rising Kindergarten and nursery. Weather permitting, the entirety of Children’s Church will be spent outside. We will read, sing, pray, and play. In an effort to prevent contamination, we will not offer a snack but will have water bottles for each child and volunteer to stay hydrated. Based on recommendations, adult volunteers will be required to wear masks, and children, as they are able, are also encouraged to wear masks. Hand washing will be included at the beginning of Children’s Church and encouraged at the conclusion of Children’s Church. Pickup area will be marked with signage in the hallway downstairs close to the preschool restrooms.

NURSERY

Covenant will offer a nursery during the 9:30am service only. Drop off will begin at 9:15am. Parents should wait outside the nursery door for a nursery volunteer to help sign in their child. All volunteers and children will have their temperatures taken prior to entering the nursery rooms. No parents permitted inside the nursery. At the conclusion of the worship service, parents should wait outside the nursery door for a nursery volunteer to bring their child out to them.

FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR COMMUNITY

Covenant’s campus is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized during the week. Surfaces will be sanitized in between services as well. Please arrive no earlier than ten minutes prior to your service so that areas can be properly cleaned.

If you have shown symptoms of COVID-19, have been exposed in the past 14 days, or travelled out of the country in the past 14 days, please do not attend worship.

All staff and volunteers will have their temperature checked when they arrive.

If you are in the “at risk” category, have small children, or are not yet comfortable meeting in a group and decide not to attend at this time, we will miss you. Please know Covenant’s online worship will be available in the weeks and months ahead.

Please wear face coverings. Should you forget your own, they will be available upon your arrival.

Maintain social distancing.

When possible, doors and windows will remain open.

Only every third pew will be available for seating at the 8:00 service. Every other pew at the 9:30am and 11:00am service.

Please sit only in spaces with bulletins.

When dismissed from the service, we ask that you not stop to visit outside the sanctuary and allow those who wish to avoid groups of people to do so.
