Holy Week at Covenant Presbyterian Church
Holy Week is the final week of Lent, when Christians remember the last days of Jesus’ earthly ministry—his triumphal entry into Jerusalem, his final meal with his disciples, his death on the cross, and his resurrection. We invite you to join us for one or all of our Holy Week services as we walk through these events together.
Whether you are a longtime church member or simply curious about the Christian faith, you are warmly welcome.
Palm Sunday
Sunday, March 29 | 9:30 AM
Palm Sunday marks Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, as crowds welcomed him with palm branches and shouts of “Hosanna.” During the service, children are invited to wave palm branches as we remember that joyful moment from the Gospels.
Palm Sunday at Covenant also includes special music led by the choir. This year’s service will feature selections from Handel’s Messiah, drawing our hearts to worship as we begin Holy Week together.
Maundy Thursday
Thursday, April 2 | 7:00 PM
Maundy Thursday remembers the final night Jesus shared with his disciples in the upper room. On this night, Jesus gave a new command—to love one another—and instituted the Lord’s Supper.
This service includes Scripture readings, prayer, congregational singing, and the celebration of communion. We reflect on Christ’s humble service, sacrificial love, and the meaning of the meal he shared with his disciples on the eve of his crucifixion. The tone of the service is quiet and reflective, inviting us to slow down and attend carefully to the love of Christ.
Good Friday
Friday, April 3 | 7:00 PM
Good Friday is a solemn service focused on the death of Jesus on the cross. Through Scripture readings from the Gospels, hymns, and prayer, we reflect on Christ’s suffering and sacrifice for the salvation of the world.
The service moves thoughtfully through the story of the crucifixion, helping us dwell on the cost of our redemption and the depth of God’s love shown at the cross. This time of reverent reflection prepares our hearts to receive the joy and hope of Easter morning.
Easter Sunday
